Scrapbook, [ca. 1928]

Consists of clippings showing a house and its furnishings along with descriptions and explanatory notes in pencil compiled for a class taken by Dora Hotchkiss while studying interior decoration. The volume opens with a series of exterior views of a Spanish-style house, followed by floor plans. Complete room layouts with pencil sketches of the arrangement of furnishings are given for the bedroom, dining room, and living room. Fabric swatches for upholstery are included. Also included in the volume are examples of furniture in many styles, swatches and illustrations of fabrics and curtains, pictures of hardware, paint samples, illustrations of wood graining and finishes, wallpaper samples, and examples of floor coverings. Another component of the scrapbook contains examples of the schools of painting taken from a series of copies (in color) of famous paintings produced by Brown-Robertson Co., Inc. Finally, a "Schedule of Outside Work to be Done by Students," is pasted on the last page of the volume. It includes a list of subjects for the scrapbooks, a bibliography, descriptions of textiles and oriental rugs, a list of the schools of painting, and exam questions.
